Cannonball Tenor Sax

As a saxophone player and purveyor of romantic sax music, I talk to people all the time who tell me how much they love the saxophone. It finally occurred to me one day that, hey, the sax loves you.

Simply put, people feel better when they hear the saxophone. It has a warm and sensuous sound that embraces and relaxes you. It stimulates the imagination and brings to mind pleasant memories or intriguing possibilities. Indeed, the very vibration of a well-played saxophone seems to do something palpable to the human nervous system - some kind endorphine release or something takes place. (I've looked for scientific evidence to back that up but haven't found any. Not that it matters - we know that it feels good, don't we?)

And on an even deeper level, it seems clear that if you feel good when you hear the saxophone, then there must be some kind of healing taking place, some kind of psycho-chemical event that assists in your well-being. It is said that laughter is the best medicine. Why? Because it makes you feel better. The same can be said of hearing the right kind of sax music. You just feel better while you hear it.

This, of course, is where I got the whole idea for my CD, Saxual Healing. A big part of my job as a sax player is to help you, the listener, connect with that loving, happy, compassionate, sensual, healing energy. In other words, I'm here to help you feel better by sharing the music that flows through me. I'm a Saxual Healer!

Mark Maxwell is a saxophonist and recording artist living in California. His 17 self-produced and self-promoted CDs have sold over a half a million copies. His music can be found at Romantic Sax Music.
